About the Role

As a Christmas Market Vendor, you will be the face of La Boulangerie at the Christkindlmarket. From setting up our booth and welcoming guests to handling sales and closing out the day, you will play a key role in sharing our authentic French baked goods with thousands of holiday visitors. This is a hands-on, fast-paced outdoor role that requires energy, reliability, and a genuine love for connecting with people.

Responsibilities

Booth Opening & Setup

• Set up our branded La Boulangerie booth and display before the market opens
• Arrange products attractively and make sure the booth is stocked and ready for guests
• Prepare the POS system and cash drawer at the start of each shift

Sales & Guest Experience

• Welcome guests with warmth and enthusiasm and create a memorable experience
• Sell our fresh-baked goods and specialty items, and confidently promote our products
• Answer product, ingredient, and allergen questions accurately
• Handle cash and card transactions accurately using our POS system

Inventory & Stock Management

• Track inventory throughout the shift and restock the display as needed
• Communicate low stock or product needs to the team in a timely manner
• Handle and store products following food safety standards

Booth Closing

• Complete a clean and full breakdown of the booth at the end of each shift
• Count and reconcile the cash drawer
• Store remaining products and equipment properly and securely

Requirements

• Reliability: you show up when you say you will. This is the most important part of this role
• Experience in retail, customer service, food service, or market vending preferred
• A background in sales and comfort promoting products and driving purchases
• Comfortable handling cash and operating a POS system
• Outgoing, energetic, and genuinely enjoy talking to people
• Ability to work independently with good judgment and self-direction

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of standing outdoors
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
• Exposure to cold, wind, and varying weather conditions; cold-weather dress standards apply, with full requirements shared before your first shift

Schedule

• Seasonal: November 20 – December 31
• Part-Time or Full-Time
• Shifts of 5 to 6 hours, varying by day; market hours 11 AM – 9 PM
• Weekday and weekend shifts available
• On-site at Christkindlmarket Chicago (Daley Plaza & Wrigleyville) and Christkindlmarket Aurora

Pay

• $20.00 per hour, plus tips
